Splash back: how to choose?
Today we are going to talk to you about an important element in every kitchen: the splash back, which has not only aesthetic value but also domestic value. It protects your kitchen from moisture, high temperatures and splashes.
A splash back is considered a rather complex element, as it can spoil even the most stylish kitchen with expensive fronts if not chosen correctly, but if chosen correctly, it can make even a simple set look spectacular.
LET US MOVE ON TO THE SELECTION:
— Size and height. The standard splash back is 60 cm, but if the parterre are short, the splash back is 45-55 cm high.
— Designing the splash back. The first thing to decide is whether it will be a modest addition or the highlight of your kitchen. Choose a splash back with all the material samples in your kitchen in hand.
— Interior. The splash back must be in harmony with the interior of your kitchen, it is best to prefer moderate tones that do not tire the eyes. However, if your kitchen is not monochromatic, an apron must be matched with other interior elements. Contrasting colours also look good.
SELECTION OF THE MATERIAL:
— Ceramic tiles are the most practical finishing material, resistant to temperature variations, easy to clean and long lasting. Another advantage is the variety of colours available.
— МоMosaic. Its characteristics are similar to ceramic tiles; the only problem is practicality because of the number of seams, which will quickly become dirty.
— Glass is an original solution, with the ability to apply any image. The disadvantages: splashes and stains are visible on the glass.
— MDF panels. Advantages: high resistance to moisture, easy care, wide range of designs, resistant to mechanical damage, resistant to mould and mildew.
— Natural stone. This is not a cheap option, but it will pay off because it will last its owners for many years. This material will not deteriorate due to temperature and moisture, so it will protect the wall in the best possible way. You may also want to consider combining wood with this material to bring natural beauty to your kitchen.
— Natural stone veneer. Many times cheaper than solid natural stone slabs, but still as strong and aesthetically pleasing.
When renovating, think about the complete look of your future kitchen. An element such as a kitchen apron can completely change the ambiance of the interior.
